2022-06-01Fix: libsqfs: do not report out of bounds positions from meta readerDavid Oberhollenzer
When asking the meta data reader for its current position and we *just* read to the end of a block, report the start of the next block as the current location. Otherwise, trying to *seek* to the resulting position immediately after reporting throws an out-of-bounds error. Signed-off-by: David Oberhollenzer <david.oberhollenzer@sigma-star.at>
2021-03-06Fix: meta reader behaviour if accessing block at location 0David Oberhollenzer
Technically, this should *never* **ever** happen, because a SquashFS file always starts with a super block, which isn't wrapped in a meta data block, so a valid SquashFS file will never have a reason to read from offset 0. However, this does bite us when doing unit tests where the meta reader and writer are used on an otherwise empty file. When trying to read from offset 0, the caching code assumes that we already have that block, since tha block_offset got initialized to 0. This commit changes the initialization to set the current block location to the maximum 64 bit integer, a location we are never going to read from, since it will always be after the limit. 2020-03-04Add a generic copying mechanism to sqfs_object_tDavid Oberhollenzer
This patch adds a deep-copy callback to sqfs_object_t and removes the copying mechanism from sqfs_compressor_t. This is also interesting for other types. Signed-off-by: David Oberhollenzer <david.oberhollenzer@sigma-star.at>
2020-02-12Implement a more explicit object systemDavid Oberhollenzer
Make every dynamically allocated, opaque data structure inherit from a common sqfs_object_t structure with common entry points (e.g. destroy). This removes tons of public API functions and replaces them with a simple sqfs_destroy instead. If semantics of the (until now implicit) object system need to be extended, it can be much more conveniantely done this way. Signed-off-by: David Oberhollenzer <david.oberhollenzer@sigma-star.at>
2019-11-25Cleanup: move overflow safe alloc code into libsquashfsDavid Oberhollenzer
There were only a hand full of instances outside libsquashfs that used the alloc code. In most cases, the thing allocated hat its size derived from something already in memory anyway, so it is safe to assume its size fits into a size_t. At the same time, the opencoded Windows path conversion functions are all unified into a single helper function. Signed-off-by: David Oberhollenzer <david.oberhollenzer@sigma-star.at>
2019-11-23Move some unix header inclusions to compat.hDavid Oberhollenzer
In most cases, including unistd.h and fcntl.h was a left over anyway. In the cases where it was not, move it to compat.h. Signed-off-by: David Oberhollenzer <david.oberhollenzer@sigma-star.at>

2019-09-27Remove use of ssize_t from library APIDavid Oberhollenzer
ssize_t is only available on POSIX platforms and even there it is only defined to hold at least -1 in the range of negative numbers. This commit replaces ssize_t return types with sqfs_s32 and the coresponding function arguments with sqfs_u32. Because the range of positiv numbers for a signed 32 bit number is only half that of the unsigned version, additional checks have to be added. 2019-09-27Cleanup: replace fixed with data types with typedefsDavid Oberhollenzer
This is a fully automated search and replace, i.e. I ran this: git grep -l uint8_t | xargs sed -i 's/uint8_t/sqfs_u8/g' git grep -l uint16_t | xargs sed -i 's/uint16_t/sqfs_u16/g' git grep -l uint32_t | xargs sed -i 's/uint32_t/sqfs_u32/g' git grep -l uint64_t | xargs sed -i 's/uint64_t/sqfs_u64/g' git grep -l int8_t | xargs sed -i 's/int8_t/sqfs_s8/g' git grep -l int16_t | xargs sed -i 's/int16_t/sqfs_s16/g' git grep -l int32_t | xargs sed -i 's/int32_t/sqfs_s32/g' git grep -l int64_t | xargs sed -i 's/int64_t/sqfs_s64/g' and than added the appropriate definitions to sqfs/predef.h The whole point being better compatibillity with platforms that may not have an stdint.h with the propper definitions. 2019-09-09Change license of libsquashfs.soDavid Oberhollenzer
This this commit, the code that is compiled and linked to produce libsquashfs.so (and *only* libsquashfs.so) is released under the terms and conditions of the GNU Lesser General Public license, allowing 3rd party programs to dynamically link against it and still being able to release their programs under a license of their choosing. The libutil library is also relicensed, because it is statically linked into libsquashfs.so. This does not affect the command line programs that remain under the GPLv3. At the current time, the two libraries do not contain any 3rd party contributions and thus do not require anybodys consent other than mine to change the licensing terms (unlike e.g. libfstree.a). The libfstree.a and libsqfshelper.a utility libraries will also remain under the GPLv3 license. Going forward, some parts of libsqfshelper.a will be moved to libsquashfs.so. The parts absorbed by libsquashfs.so will then also have their licensing conditions changed *at that time*. For the public headers, this commit adds the full boiler-plate comment about the license, for the source files and internal headers, only the SPDX identifier is changed. 2019-09-08Replace direct file I/O with abstraction layerDavid Oberhollenzer
This should make it easier to use libsquashfs with custom setups that embedd a squashfs image inside something else. Also, it should make it easier to port to non unix-like platforms. Signed-off-by: David Oberhollenzer <david.oberhollenzer@sigma-star.at>

2019-09-07Move data structure forward declarations to predef headerDavid Oberhollenzer
This in turn allows for removing most of the header inclusions within the public headers. Signed-off-by: David Oberhollenzer <david.oberhollenzer@sigma-star.at>
2019-09-05Fix API visibility for libsquashfs.soDavid Oberhollenzer
This commit adds a "predef.h" header to libsquashfs that exposes two macros, SQFS_API and SQFS_INTERNAL that are used to explicilty set the visibiliy of stuff that ends up in libsquashfs to default or hidden. For compatibillity with Windows which may at some point eventually be considered, the SQFS_API define is set to dllexport IF the cpp symbol SQFS_BUILDING_DLL is defined and set to import otherwise. 2019-08-23Do bounds checking in metadata readerDavid Oberhollenzer
In all cases where metadata blocks are read, we can roughly (in some cases even preciesly) say in what range those metadata blocks will be, so it makes sense to throw an error if an attempt is made to wander outside this range. Furthermore, when reading from an uncompressed block, it is more reasonable to check against the actual block bounds than to padd it with 0 bytes. 2019-07-25Replace reads in squashfs with positional readsDavid Oberhollenzer
In most cases, we know exactely where the data that we want to read is on disk, so instead of using read() on the squashfs (or lseek + read), the code can in many places be cleaned up to use the pread wrapper read_data_at instead. 2019-07-24Enable largefile supportMatt Turner
Requires that config.h be included before other headers, since the macro _FILE_OFFSET_BITS changes the definitions of things like 'struct stat'. I chose to simply include it at the top of every C file and at immediately after the double-inclusion guards of every header. 2019-07-16cleanup: move error handling into read_retryDavid Oberhollenzer
If read_retry fails to read the expected amount of data (EOF or otherwise), it is almost always an error. This commit renames read_retry to read_data and moves error handling into the function, making a lot of error handling code redundant.
